Abstract

In the complex geopolitical landscape of South Asia, the interplay between China, India, and Pakistan has given rise to a security dilemma driven by the enhancement of second-strike capabilities and the evolving role of space capabilities. This paper examines how the emergence of space capabilities is changing the regional security climate and posing difficulties for Pakistan's second-strike capabilities. The study aims to understand why India perceives China's advancements as preparation for first-strike capabilities and investigates India's response in upgrading its second-strike capabilities. Additionally, it explores the potential instability created in Pakistan's second-strike capabilities due to these developments. This paper's two main research questions are: (1) What factors contribute to India's perception of China's enhancement of second-strike capabilities as preparation for first-strike capabilities? (2) How do these developments affect Pakistan's ability to launch a second strike and bring instability to the region? This research article contributes to the understanding of nuclear dynamics in South Asia by conducting a thorough examination of perceptions, actions, and regional implications.
