Abstract

Metal flow through a filter system has always been regarded as a cumbersome task, mainly because of the calculations involved, the danger of choking of the whole gating system and on the other hand decreasing the temperature to a lower value. Infact, all these views are wrong, incorporation of the right size of filter at the right place not only minimizes the dross, turbulence, bifilms, velocity and inclusions but also makes possible for the casting to be radiographically sound.
