Abstract

Chemical Engineering like other technology dependent disciplines have become more and more dependent on Information Technology both at the office and in the field. Becoming IT savvy has become imperative not only for the professional on job but also to successfully apply for a job. The following software has become de-facto standards for any professional prior to applying for a job. These are office automation tools such as Spreadsheets and Word Processing, technical application programs such as CAD / CAM software, highly technical simulation software and the omnipresent communication software such as email and inter/intra net. In this research paper we have elucidated the importance of computer skills as an integral part of chemical engineering curriculum and suggested approached towards achieving this objective.
