This research was carried out to ascertain the impact of Multimedia and Hypermedia on teachingBasic electricity technology subjects in Government Technical Colleges in Oyo Sate, Nigeria.Quasi experimental design involving pretest, posttest, non-randomized comparison group wasused for the study. Two research questions and two hypotheses were raised to guide the study. Atotal of one hundred (100) final year students of Electrical/Electronics Department from the fiveTechnical Colleges in Oyo State constitute the population of the study. Achievement test with 40test items involving application of multimedia and hypermedia resources was used as theinstrument for data collection. The instrument was subjected to face and content validity by ICTexperts in Industrial and Technology Education. The reliability of the instrument was determinedusing the Pearson Product Moment Correlation and the Correlation Coefficient was found to be0.85, while the Kuder-Richardson (KR20) formula was used to determine the internal consistencyand the result obtained was 0.78. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer the researchquestions while the Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was employed to test the hypotheses thatguided the study. The findings from the study revealed that multimedia and hypermediainstructions were effective in enhancing students’ achievement in Basic Electricity Technology. The study also found out that there was a significant difference between the main effects of gender(male and female) on students’ achievement in Basic Electricity. The study recommends for theadoption of multimedia and hypermedia instructional resources and also advocate for training andretraining of the teachers and students on effective utilization of multimedia and hypermediainstructions resources.
