Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine China’s strategic interests in the Indian Ocean with particular reference to its geo-economic and geostrategic interests. Further more, this paper intends to analyse ChinaPakistan-India-Myanmar relations in the light of growing strategic interests of China in the Indian Ocean. Since India considers the Indian Ocean region as its domain hence, it feels threatened of Chinese maritime pursuits in the Indian Ocean region. One of the objectives of this paper is to critically examine China’s endeavours of expanding influence in the Indian Ocean region with particular reference to India’s threat perceptions and security concerns.
