Abstract

Awjaz al Masalik and sharh al-zarqani ‘ala ’l-muwatta’ are two Arabic commentaries of the famous corpus of hadith al-Muwatta’ by Imam Malik. Both the commentaries have distinctive features in elaborationg the text of al-Muwatta’ from different perspectives. This article focuses on the methodolgical study of the both commentaries and explains the distinguished features of Awjaz al Masalik by Mawlana Muḥammad Zakariyya. This study shows that Awjaz  enjoys some specific characteristics prior to that of sharh al-zarqani. It is valuable treatise of various academics debates regarding the sciences of Hadith, Islamic Law etc.
