Abstract

Allama Iqbal has written extensively about Bilal bin Rabah RA in his Urdu and Persian works. Iqbal has named the continent Africa as "Bilal's world" and stated him to be the continent's leader and chief. The level of respect and dignity which has been attained by Bilal RA in Islamic world is actually a testament to the spiritual message of Islam which decimated racist pride to ground. Bilal's patience and sincerity had embraced every pain of the world for the sake of Allah. Iqbal has again paid homage to Bilal in his poetry. "Bilal's Call to Prayer" is a renowned and famous act in the Islamic world. Without the spirit of Bilal, the call to prayer is a mere ritual. In explaining the marvel of Bilal's greatness, Iqbal compares him with Alexander the great.
