Abstract

Manto is one of the greatest short story writers. He is well known for his controversial and thought provoking writings. Manto believes that Art is a reflection of life. He didn't believe in the so called set literary norms of that time. He never dilutes the truth, bravely operates with his pen like a experts surgeon, he cut and shows all the hidden and bitter truth of society. He wrote on socially taboo topics like sex and prostitution. He was deeply affected by the reality of socio-political structure and communal and regional divide of the time so he rebelled against the law and norms of the society in his writings and faced all the legal consequences in his time. In this research paper we shall try to see the different shades and phase of his life in his writing.
