Abstract

The Legendary Munshi Naval Kishore (1836-1895) played a Very Significant role in the Promotion of Books. He rendered unique services as a Publisher, Writer & Printer. He left unforgettable legacy after his death. Apart from books publishing, he established several departments for marketing and distribution of books. As a Pioneer he printed out catalogue of books after every five years.
This article focuses on the rare book list published in November 1875. In this catalogue there is a special memorandum which contains terms of affairs and special instructions for traders, retailers and private customers for putting orders to purchase books. Further some conditions were laid down for printing, mode of payments, terms of dispatch and delivery etc. for the first time systematically in the written form by any publisher. So this is a historical document which was followed by other printers and publishers in coming years as a role model.
