Abstract

Awqaf is related to human welfare which was started before Islam but it has been given final form by Islam. All the endowments that have been established before the advent of Islam were from the benevolent people of the society. At the same time, where the Awqaf remained under the shadow of Islamic governments, they remained in their original state, but as soon as the Awqaf came under the influence of non-Islamic governments or the status of Muslims became a minority, then the local governments took over the Awqaf and changed their status to government treasures began to fill up instead of public welfare. In modern times, some endowments have become deserted or occupied in such a way that it is difficult to preserve them; Islamic Fiqh Academy India has played its key role to ensure their preservation and make them fruitful. Not only books are being written by this institution for the protection of endowment, but this institution also has scholars, preachers and consensus of the Ummah from all over the world to discuss the problems faced by endowment in its seminars. Condemnation of attempts to violate the sanctity of Babri Masjid and Awqaf throughout the world, including India, has been expressed through the Thirteenth Seminar of this Academy. Due to which the spirit of protection and defense of their holy places has been created in the hearts of Muslims.
