Abstract

The term "emotional intelligence" refers to master your emotions and making your life happy and successful. EQ was introduced by P. Salovey and J. Mayer but D. Goleman took the term to new heights. This paper will explain how the major contributions of early Muslim scholars to psychology show that they are the pioneers of psychology that the West claims today. They have already provided the foundations of emotional intelligence in their works. Muslim scholars have explained everything regards to EQ very well, whether it is Emotions, theirs  Classification, causes, effects, prevention and control exercises or EQ’s components like; self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills.          As far as intellect is concerned, they discussed the five internal and external senses, wisdom, Ruh, Qalb, Aql and Nafs deeply. Modern psychologists describe the worldly benefits of self-control, while Muslim scholars consider both worldly and hereafter benefits.
