Abstract

In Zoroastrianism, the ancient Persian religion, the concept of the last savior holds significant importance in its eschatological framework. The Saoshyant, a messianic figure, is believed to usher in the final renovation of the world, bringing about the ultimate triumph of good over evil. This article delves into the mythology and theology surrounding the Saoshyant, exploring its origins, characteristics, and role in Zoroastrian eschatology. Through a critical analysis of primary sources, including the Avesta and Pahlavi texts, this study reveals the significance of the Saoshyant in Zoroastrian theology and its implications for the religion's understanding of salvation, redemption, and the final judgment. The article provides insight into the enduring influence of Zoroastrianism on the development of messianic ideologies in various religious traditions.
