Abstract

This paper discusses the potential for religious dialogue between Islam and Judaism, drawing on certain points where it becomes challenging. It is argued that Judaism while having belief as Chosen people of God does not look as harmonious with Islam and hence puts the engagement in interfaith dialogue into question. Owing to the fact that,  it neither  regards Islam as a new religion but rather as a continuation of Judaism, nor regards the Messenger of Allah, ? as a new prophet because he borrowed all teachings from the Jewish books. Additionally, they despise Islam since the Qur'an provides a critical account of Jewish beliefs to actualize them. Islam, on the other hand, considers the Torah and Talmud being heavenly revealed texts.  In this prospect, several shreds of evidences from the Quran & Sunnah are presented to establish that Islam not only recognizes religious pluralism but also respects freedom of religiosity. After carrying out an analytical and critical study, it can be concluded that Judaism does not seem as felicitated to engage in religious dialogue with Islam. Even so, Islam's doors remain open to create mutual coexistence and a peaceful environment.
