In the world of psychology, Nature v/s Nurture debate seems to find no end. There is a large group of people who believe in determinism and think that we are born with a certain set of traits which are determined by our genes. The nurture group believes that a human being learns from his environment, specially his parents and then imbibes what he learns. For the longest time scientists believed that genes are the real reason we are the way we are. However, with research it has been proved beyond doubt that our environment specially parenting affects who we are. Our psychology is dependent on how our childhood was and what sort of an environment were we raised in. Over the years it has also been proved that the psychological disorder that afflict a few of us are not a result of our genetics but due to the abuse we encounter during our childhood.
