Genghis Khan, also known as Chengiz Khan or officially Genghis Huangdi, was the legendary Mongolian tribal chief who rose to become the first Great Khan and Emperor of the vast Mongol Empire, the largest contiguous empire in history and the second largest overall after the British Empire. By uniting the nomadic tribes of Northeast Asia, he built a military force that conquered northern China, Central Asia including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and parts of India, modern-day Pakistan.
