Attribution: Eadweard Muybridge's 1878 photographs of a running horse are some of the earliest motion pictures. They're in the public domain, and you should absolutely look them up, and yes, I know that's a really strange spelling of 'Edward'. He adopted the Anglo-Saxon spelling in 1882.
