This video is recorded to explain the topic of what is socialization what is the importance of socialization and what are agents and theories of socialization.
Today we will start from socialization the Farrell child story of Genie. I will see how can human can be a human. Most of the socialist says that we are not born as human but socialization process enable us to learn different social behaviours that can be acceptable by the society.
We stared with the concept of Feral Child.
A feral child is a human child who has lived isolated from human contact from a very young age, and so has had little or no experience of human care, behavior or human language.
There are several confirmed cases and other speculative ones.
Genie (born 1957) is the assumed name of an American feral child who was a victim of severe abuse, neglect, and social isolation.
When she was approximately 20 months old, her father began keeping her in a locked room.
Her abuse came to the attention of Los Angeles child welfare authorities in November 1970, when she was 13 years and 7 months old.
The SOCIALIZATIONPROCESS
Socialization is the process through which people learn the expectations of society.
the activity of mixing socially with others
the process of learning to behave in a way that is acceptable to society.
The act of adapting behavior to the norms of a culture or society is called socialization. Socialization can also mean going out and meeting people or hanging out with friends.
Socialization is the process through which people learn physical, mental and social skills of society. Internalization of culture, it is a learned behavior, begin from birth to death. (Childhood – adulthood)
Roles are the expected behavior associated with a given status in society.
When you occupy a given social role, you tend to take on the expectations of others.
By means of socialization, people absorb their culture—customs, habits, laws, practices, and means of expression.
Introverts sometimes avoid large groups of people, feeling more energized by time alone. The opposite of an introvert is an extrovert, who finds energy in interactions with others.
Women and men encounter different socialization patterns as they grow up because each gender brings with it different social expectations.
Likewise, growing up Muslim and Jewish, Asian and involves different socialization experiences
