Today, a meeting of the Standing Committee on Home was chaired by Arif Iqbal, MPA, member of the Standing Committee on Home. DG (Parliamentary Affairs & Research) Punjab Assembly, Khalid Mahmood, specially attended the meeting. Additional Secretary Police, Additional Secretary Home, and Additional Secretary Law were also present in the meeting.
Two bills were presented in the meeting: the first one pending implementation and the second one was approved by the honorable committee.
The first bill was "The Provincial Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill 2025." Dr. Zeeshan Hanif, Additional Secretary Police, briefed the committee about this bill, and the committee directed the Home Department to make some implementations. This bill will be discussed in the next meeting.
The second bill, which was approved by the committee, was "The Punjab Acid Control Bill 2025" by Ms. Hina Parvez Butt, MPA. This bill is related to the regulation of the sale, purchase, and handling of acid. Previously, this bill was also presented to the committee on February 27, 2025, and the committee directed some implementations. Today, this bill was finalized to be put before the Assembly.
