I was saving my energy for this day. The reason I went to Dubai was to watch Pakistan play and win the Asia Cup! 😭🇵🇰🏆 The much-awaited final of the Asia Cup saw the two best teams of Asia collide; Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first (as it was noted that the team bowling first ends up winning). Sri Lanka started off the innings poorly and lost 5 wickets within 10 overs.

However, the partnership of Rajapaksa and Hasaranga covered their lacklustre performance of the initial 10 overs. Sri Lanka went on to score 170, courtesy of Rajapaksa and some fielding blunders by Pakistan.

It seemed like we could chase the target, but the approach Pakistan took proved to be detrimental! Pakistan kept on losing wickets one after another. Sri Lanka managed to successfully restrict the boys in Green, and team Pakistan bundled out on 147.

Sri Lanka is deservingly crowned as the Champions of the Asia Cup 2022! As a cricket fan, I am happy to see a team march towards victory against all odds, after displaying determination and consistency throughout the tournament.

Congratulations to everybody from Sri Lanka! You deserve every bit of this happiness! 👏🏻

Shadab Khan in true sportsman spirit ended up accepting a fielding blunder. But it is a team effort at the end of the day! Hoping that we learn from the gaps in our performance as a whole, and return with a bang in the ICC T20 World Cup very soon!
