GERD (Acid Disease): How to control its symptoms by changing dietary habits? This tutorial video describes following in the management of GERD:
- Diet modification (content and timing): 1) Avoid fatty meals, coffee, chocolate, carbonated beverages, spicy foods, acidic foods such as citrus and tomatoes, 2) Eat smaller meals, 3) Avoid meals within 2–3 hr of bedtime (late night meals and bedtime snacks)
- Body positioning with meals and while sleeping: 1) Stay upright during and after meals. 2) Sleep with elevated head of the bed and on the left-side down
- Weight management: Weight loss for overweight patients
- Stop smoking and alcohol
