سیدنا ابو ہریرہؓ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وآلہ ‌وسلم ‌ نے فرمایا: اس کے بارے میں تمہارا کیا خیال ہے کہ اگر کسی کے دروازے کے پاس نہر ہو اور وہ اس میں روزانہ پانچ بار غسل کرتا ہو، کیا اس کی میل باقی رہے گی؟ لوگوں نے کہا: اس کی میل میں سے کچھ بھی باقی نہیں رہے گی۔ آپ ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وآلہ ‌وسلم ‌ نے فرمایا: پانچ نمازوں کی بھی یہی مثال ہے، اللہ تعالیٰ ان کے ذریعے گناہوں کو مٹا دیتا ہے۔

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah narrates that the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: What do you think about the fact that if there is a canal near someone's door and he bathes in it five times a day, is his mail Will remain? People said: Nothing of his mail will remain. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The same is the case with the five prayers, Allah removes sins through them.
