سیدنا ابو ہریرہ ؓ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وآلہ ‌وسلم ‌ نے فرمایا: نماز پچھلی نماز تک کفارہ ہے، جمعہ پچھلے جمعہ تک کفارہ ہے اور ماہِ رمضان پچھلے مہینے تک کفارہ ہے، مگر تین گناہوں سے۔ ہم نے پہچان لیا کہ کوئی نئی صورتِ حال واقع ہوئی ہے، مگر اللہ تعالیٰ کے ساتھ شرک کرنا، معاہدے کو توڑنا اور سنت کو ترک کرنا۔ پھر آپ ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وآلہ ‌وسلم ‌ نے فرمایا: معاہدے کو توڑنا یہ ہے کہ تو کسی آدمی سے عہد و پیمان کرے، لیکن پھر تو تلوار کے ساتھ اس کے ساتھ لڑنا شروع کر دے، اور سنت کو ترک کرنے سے مراد جماعت سے خارج ہونا ہے۔
