Description

(The fate of the unbelievers who hurt the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the prayer)
Hazrat Abdullah bin Masoud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated the hadith from him that once the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was praying near the Kaaba and Abu Jahl and his companions were sitting (also there) and one of them said to the other. He said, "There is a person among you who should take the shroud of the slaughtered camel of the tribe and put it on Muhammad's back when he prostrates." On hearing this, one of the most wretched (men) among them got up and brought a cloak and watched as he prostrated, then he placed the cloak between his two shoulders (says Abdullah bin Masoud). I was seeing it (everything) but could not do anything. I wish! (At that time) I would have had the power to stop. Abdullah says that they began to laugh and (with laughter) began to be robbed and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was in prostration (due to the burden) and could not raise his head. Until Fatima came and threw that burden off his back, then he raised his head and said three times. Ya Allah! So seize the Quraysh, this (thing) became very heavy on those disbelievers that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed them. Abdullah says that he used to think that whatever prayer is offered in this city (Makkah) is definitely accepted then he named each one (of them) (separately) saying, O Allah! Kill these oppressors. Abu Jahl, Utbah bin Rabi'ah, Shaiba bin Rabi'ah, Waleed bin Utbah, Umayyah bin Khalaf and Uqbah bin Abi Mu'it. (Also) took the name of the seventh (man) but I do not remember. By the One in Whose possession is my soul, I saw the names of those whom the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) invoked (while making invocations), I saw their (dead bodies) lying in the well of Badr.
