Hazrat Safwan bin Asal (R.A.) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Allah has made a gate towards the west which is for repentance and whose width is equal to the distance of seventy years, and this gate has not been closed until that time." It will go until the sun rises in the direction of the west, that is, the rising of the sun from the direction of the west is an obstacle to repentance, and believing in Allah's statement that certain signs from your Lord will come on that day will not benefit such a soul. This is the meaning of those who did not believe before. (Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah)
Explanation:
Which is for repentance means that it is open to those who repent or that it is a sign that repentance is valid and repentance is accepted! The result is that when the sun does not rise from the west, the door of repentance is open for people, whoever wants to repent of their polytheism and disbelief, and whoever wants to repent of their sins and enter the eternal comforts of the Hereafter through this door. And deserve happiness. When the sun rises from the west, the door of repentance will be closed. Verse (On the day when some of your Lord's revelations will come, the soul will not benefit from its faith; it was not secured before or gained in its faith; 6) Al-An'am 158). On that day, some signs will come from your Lord (i.e. near the Day of Judgment, the Lord will show some signs, one of them is that one day the sun will rise from the west instead of the east, on that day it will not benefit such a soul to believe). He who believed beforehand (i.e. before the sign of the Lord appeared) and the soul who did not repent (i.e. repent) (his repentance on that day will not benefit him). This verse. The result of this is that on the day when the sun will rise from the direction of the west, the person who did not believe before that, or who believed in faith but did not repent, will not benefit from his faith, nor will his repentance benefit from it.
