Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) was on a journey when a Bedouin came forward and grabbed the seal of his naqah and then said: O Messenger of Allah! (Or say your name and say O Muhammad!) Tell me that which draws me nearer to heaven and farther from the fire of hell? The narrator says that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) stopped (ie he stopped his naqah to answer this question) then he looked at his companions and (drawing their attention) said that he got good luck (Or he said that he was well guided.) Then he said to this Arab questioner, "Yes! Just say it again. How did you say that?" The questioner repeated the same question (tell me the thing that will bring me closer to heaven and away from hell). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Do not do it, and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and be merciful. "Now let go of our naqa."
