Explore Faisalabad (Lyallpur) – The Mini Manchester of Pakistan | CHAK DE PHATE

Faisalabad, formerly known as Lyallpur, is the third-largest city in Pakistan and a major industrial hub in Punjab. It was established in 1892 and named after Sir James Lyall, the British lieutenant governor of Punjab. The city was initially designed as an agricultural town, with a unique eight-road clock tower (Ghanta Ghar) at its center. Faisalabad played a key role in the Green Revolution, boosting Pakistan’s agricultural and textile industries. After Pakistan's independence in 1947, it was renamed Faisalabad in honor of King Faisal of Saudi Arabia. Today, it is known for its thriving textile industry, contributing significantly to Pakistan's economy.
