Pakistan-born councilor Abid Latif Chohan has been elected as lord mayor of the Manchester City Council. He belongs to Jhelum. “I shifted to Britain after I completed my education,” Chohan told Geo News moments after he took oath of his mayorship office. “It’s an honour for me, my family and Pakistan to become lord mayor of Manchester 20 years down the road.” Peace can’t be restored to the south Asian region without solving the Kashmir issue, he said. He called upon the followers of all religions to stay united.
