Kashmir-born councilor Shahina Haroon has sworn in as deputy mayor of Bury’s borough. “Allah has granted me the chance to prove myself as a pride for my country of birth, Pakistan,” she told Geo News. The Pakistani community voiced happiness for her becoming first Muslim and Pakistan-born deputy mayor in Greater Manchester. A community member said she can take care of home, business and politics. Another said she served the community in the borough and now she got the reward.
