ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday acquitted PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and her husband Captain (retd) Safdar in the Avenfield corruption reference.
A two-member bench of the IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard her plea.
In July 2018, an accountability court sentenced the PML-N leader to seven years in prison and her husband to one year for their involvement in the case.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had accused her of abetting his father and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in committing the crime.
The PML-N supremo was handed 11 years in the case while Capt (retd) Safdar was given one year jail time for not cooperating with NAB, and aiding and abetting Nawaz and Maryam.
