DG ISPR slams India's ceasefire violations, propaganda against Pakistan

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director-General (DG) Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry slammed India for continuing propaganda against Pakistan and committing several ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) this year.

In a press conference held on Tuesday, Major General Chaudhry said that the Pakistan Army was fully capable of defending the country's security and would take the war to the enemy's borders if necessary.

DG ISPR warned India against any misguided adventure and stated that Pakistan forces would respond with full force with the support of the people.

He revealed that India had violated the ceasefire 56 times this year and Pakistan had shot down six quadcopters of India.

Pakistan had always welcomed United Nations (UN) observers mission, but India had violated Pakistan’s airspace thrice, he added.

The DG ISPR said that Pakistan army was not afraid of any Indian aggression and would respond with full force.

He informed the media that there were three incidents of terrorism in Punjab, and security forces had conducted 8269 operations, with more than 70 operations being conducted daily to deal with the scourge of terrorism.

Terrorists involved in these incidents had been exposed, he said.

The Major General Asif Sharif further said that due to the day and night efforts of the Pakistan Army, there were no no-go areas in Pakistan today.

Despite the internal and external challenges, the sacrifices of Pakistan's forces were not hidden from anyone, he said.

This year alone, 137 soldiers and officers were martyred. The role of scholars and media in the war against terrorism was commendable, he added.

DG ISPR said that the areas which were victims of terrorism were now undergoing economic activities, and paid tribute to the heirs of the martyrs.

"The law enforcement agencies are determined to defend the country, and the most wanted terrorist Gulzar Imam has been arrested."

The purpose of the briefing was to cover the professional activities of the Pakistan Army and counter-terrorism measures, he said.

He further revealed that the terrorists involved in the Peshawar suicide attack belonged to the Kunduz province of Afghanistan.

The three masterminds of the Peshawar attack were later detained, and the training of the attackers was carried out in different areas.

Facilitators were given Rs7.5 million for planning the attack, he added.

The ISPR DG emphasized that attempts to sabotage the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other projects were being thwarted, and all projects were being provided complete security.

Moreover, the ISPR DG stated that 98% of the work on the 2,611-kilometre fence between Pakistan and Afghanistan had been completed, while 85% of the work on the fence on the border with Iran had been completed.

He added that 65% of the area in tribal lands had been cleared of mines, and 95% of the population displaced due to terrorism had returned home.

The DG stressed that no individual or group would be allowed to take the law into their own hands, and different social welfare programs had been announced after slashing the army's budget.

"The journey towards permanent peace in Pakistan has begun," said ISPR DG.
