Today marks the 11th anniversary of the Gayari tragedy in Pakistan, which claimed the lives of several Pakistan Army officers, soldiers, and civilians due to a fatal avalanche in Siachen. Siachen is known as the "highest battlefield" between Pakistan and India.

On April 7, 2012, an avalanche struck a military camp in Gayari, burying 129 soldiers and 11 civilians under 70 feet of snow. Despite extensive rescue efforts, all individuals were eventually declared deceased by officials, rendering the incident one of the most devastating in the country's history. Today, the nation is paying tribute to those who lost their lives in this tragedy.
