Rubric to mark essay question in Intermediate English Examination in BISEs of the Punjab (Pakistan) may be considered as an induction of an important document to enhance scorer reliability. This study rethinks the essay rubric on three lines i.e., its alignment with the rubric proposed by National Curriculum of Pakistan 2006, with the principles proposed by the experts of theory of language testing and with rubrics in vogue by different testing agencies having international acclaim. Recommendations have been made to further improve the rubric to make it in line with the theory and currency.
