Experts have offered different ideas about when and where Urdu language originated. In 'Advocacy of Bagh-o-Bahar', Meer Aman Dehlvi propagated that Urdu is a result of interaction between Hindus and Muslims in sub-continent. Hafiz Mahmood Sherani suggested that interaction of Hindus and Muslims happened in Punjab long before Delhi. Beyond these, other regional ideologies are presented from different perspectives. Some scholars are of the view that Urdu was developed in Sindh while others opine that it is a product of Dakin. Still others believe that Sarhad (NWFP) is the birth place of Urdu. All scholars take help from local languages to strengthen their argument. Conversely, everybody feels proud to announce that Urdu is a product of his/her region. In this article, we try to encapsulate different ideologies and perspectives of experts about origin of Urdu language.
