Abstract

Benjamin Schultze was an important early grammarian in the tradition of Urdu Grammar writing. He was the first one who started the discussion on historical linguistics in 1742.The history of Urdu language can derive the important stuff from the preface of his Grammatica Industanica. The second importance of this grammar is that, its contents give the brief view to understand the language needs of the pre-colonial period in India and the trends of orientalists of that era.
