Abstract

The renowned scholars of the sub-continent have authored several Tafaseer (exegeses) of the Holy Quran. Originally, these were in the form of manuscripts, and with the passage of time these manuscripts were published. These manuscripts are valued as the most precious treasure of Islamic and Arabic knowledge. They are the result of great and untiring endeavours of Muslim scholars. Among these, there is an indispensable and unrivalled work “Tafseer Wal-duha” of “Hafiz Muhammad Ahsan al-Waiz al-Khushabi al-Pishawari” who belonged to the Punjab province, Pakistan, It is undoubtedly one of the best additions in the realm of commentaries yet undiscovered.
In this paper, the biography of the writer and his scholarly work have been expounded. Likewise, the glittering aspect of the manuscript and the writer’s worth have also been brought to light which the writer has derived from the Quranic commentaries, sayings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) narrations of Sahaba, Tabieen, Taba Tabieen and Mujtahideen.
This paper is divided into two parts; life of the writer has been discussed in its first part, while the second part explains this manuscript, its methodology and peculiarities.
