Urdu literature, especially prose, has a very rich tradition of the two literary genres of “Humour” and “Sarcasm”. Unlike a general perception that both are the same or interchangeable categories, the fact remains that these two are entirely independent literary styles of writing. This article sheds light on the proportion of humour and sarcasm found in the articles and writings of Patras Bokhari. It may evidently be established that ratio or quantum of pure houmour far exceeds sarcasm in his articles. Though having being inspired by the long-standing tradition of English literature in this field, yet Patras has successfully maintained his own unique style that truly and sufficiently represents spontaneity and the locale and socio-cultural environment of his time and space. This is what precisely distinguishes Patras from amongst his contemporaries.
