In the current study, a social emotional competency scale for school-aged students (ranging from 11 to 17 years) was developed within the context of Pakistani culture, and its psychometric characteristics were determined. The CASEL model and literature review were served as the foundation for the item pool generation. Items were pilot tested on 90 school students. For field study, sample of 1480 students from various public and private schools of Gujrat, Kharian and Bhimber Azad Kashmir were selected through stratified sampling technique. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted for identifying the underline factors. Exploratory Factor analysis confirmed 5 factors structure with 21 items. Confirmatory factor analysis was used for confirming the factors retained through EFA, model indicated a good fit model with (CMIN/DF =3.440, CFI=.913, PGFI= .650, RMSEA =0.49 and GFI =.956). Newly developed scale showed Cronbach alpha of .925. Newly developed scale provides a reliable assessment of social emotional competency for students.
