Moral values and Ethical Philosophies in The Letters of Sir
Sayed Ahmad Khan
Sir Syed Ahmed Khan (1817-1898) was one of the eminent lovers of Urdu literature, constantly striving for the continuity and evaluation of the Urdu language throughout his life. One of the most important and substantive aspects of his writing is letter writing. He wrote a number of letters to his colleagues, politicians and academics. Although the chronicle of letter writing in Urdu began with Ghulam Ghos Bekhabar (1824-1905), nevertheless Sir Syed Ahmad Khan caused a stir in the static sea of letter writing in Urdu literature. Because British barbarism had a profound impact on society after the War of Independence of 1857, letters written in Hindi and Urdu at that time really reflected Indian society.
