Abstract

Another New Year begins with the 69th volume of the Journal of Pakistan Medical Association. The past year has been full of challenges with the rising submissions. Research articles are submittedfrom all over Pakistan including the smaller provinces as Gujrat and Azad Kashmir.A large number of articles on genetic studies are received which shows the high quality of research going on in our country. It is an honour to read the numerous letters of appreciation received from different parts of the world. The journal website has been completely renewed giving it a more pleasant and reader friendly view. The credit goes to our junior most editorial board member, Dr.Ramsha Zaheer for revising the contents.

The new design was created by Pakcyber and its CEO Mr. Imtiaz Jafri who has always been so obliging. We started a new section, Imaging Corner, in 2018.This provides interesting and rare oncology cases with pictures This is the hard work of Dr. Aamna Hassan, the section editor, from Shaukat Khanum

Memorial Cancer Hospital, Lahore. The other sections continue with the help of the respective section editors. Nero-oncology by Dr. Shahzad Shamim of Aga Khan University, Karachi, and the the two sections on Diabetes and Endocrinology being the responsibility of Dr. Sanjay Kalra from Karnal and his colleagues from various institutions of India, The Student’s Corner is receiving articles from students studying in the various Medical Colleges of the country. The present section editor, Rabia Bega is doing excellent work. I welcome Mr.Majid, who has replaced Mr. Iqbal the office manager for the last 14 years. Mr. Nadeem left and his place has been taken by Muneeb. Other team members, Adil, Faizan and Ramzan are working diligently and deserve appreciation and thanks. I take this opportunity to thank all the authors for selecting JPMA, the peer and statistical reviewers, our copy editor and all our board members from within the country and abroad for their support. Special appreciation goes out to our Managing Secretary, Dr. Anwar Ali Khawja for his help in all matters.

without them it would have been impossible to perform the journal work. The office bearers of PMA Centre, have always been a strong pillar of support . A journal of this caliber could not achieve success without their help.
