Abstract

A very impressive ceremony was witnessed on the occasion of the inauguration of Otsuka Pakistan Ltd’s factory which will produce intra­venous solutions in Pakistan. It is a very positive step forward towards the goal of basic manufac­turing in Pakistan. This factory is intended for producing intra­venous solutions which perform a crucial life saving role. Japan based Otsuka boasts a 50% share of the domestic IV solution market while it has been a supplier of these solutions to Pakistan for over more than 30 years. It has the biggest installed capacity of 6 million bottles per year, which may be easily increased to 10 million bottles.This modern pharmaceutical plant is the out­come of 16 months of strenous efforts, whole hearted and devoted cooperation of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Ltd. Japan, P.T. Otsuka Indonesia and Feroze Group in Pakistan and members of Otsuka Pakistan. The inauguration ceremony was performed by Mr. Syed Amir Haider Kazmi, Federal Minister for Health. Dr. Tariq Sohail, Health Advisor to the Prime Minister, Ambassadors of Japan and Indonesia, distinguished members of diplomatic corps, prominent members of the medical profession and other leading industrialists as well as businessmen were present on the occasion.
