Abstract

Urdu Nazm in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
This article is a study of the beginning of Urdu nazm of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Urdu nazm flourished here in 20th century but we can find a few good examples of Urdu nazm in 18th and 19th centuries also. We have a number of poets who composed nazms on different themes. There are prominent names like Ma'az ullah Khan, Qasim Khan Afridi, Haji Sarhadi, Riazi Sarhadi, Mudabbir Peshawari and Bedil Peshawari who got fame through their nazms. In 20th century poets like Mir Waliullah, Jaffari, Mulla Ramuzi, Riffat Bukhari, Mirza Mehmud Sarhadi, Rasa Barilvi and Jigar Kazmi brought a revolution in Urdu nazm of KPK. This article deals with Urdu nazm before partition.
