Indus civilization was spread over a vast geographical region from the north eastern mountains of Afghanistan to the coast of Makran, Punjab, Sind and South Indian areas up to Gujrat. It was one of the world's first urban civilizations which was flourished around the Indus river basin extended into the Ghaggar- HakRa river valley and in upper adjacent to the Ganges-Yamuna plains about 5000 years back. This area is the home of Dravidian languages. The Punjabi, Sindhi and Brahvi of Pakistani languages come from of Dravidian language family. Dravidian grammatical influence, professions' names, social customs and places names suggest that the Dravidian languages were once spoken more widely across the area. This article expresses views on the influence and origin of the language spoken by the ancestors of the civilization.
