Magic Realism: A critical Study
Magic Realism is one of the modern techniques of narrative. This essay encompasses the background and basic elements of this narrative technique. First of all Franz roh, the German critic, used this term for visual arts to capture the mystery of life behind the surface reality but it got fame in the sixth decade of 20th century when Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez used it in his great novel "One Hundred Years of Solitude". It is that mode of narration which amalgamates two different worlds, the real and fantastic, natural and supernatural on aquaplane. This essay defines and discusses the ins and outs of the Magic Realism and as well as its sources where it gets its material, through the opinions of well known critics of English and European literatures.
