The Abbreviations Of Sources in Editing: Necessity and Importance
Emendation and editing of the manuscripts is a pre-eminent branch of the research process. An emender has to face a number of problems in this regard. The discovery and appraisal of a manuscript is an arduous task. For this, one has to be an expert in the area of script concerned, language, rules of the grammar, meter and prosody. An emender has also to resort to the brevity in case he faces different versions of the same manuscript and writing, so that a reader may not feel the burden of unnecessary elongation and repetition. In this article the writer explores the principles and techniques of brevity in the process of editing and emendation of a manuscript.
