Abstract

When we look towards the sky of Punjabi storytelling, we see stars like Damodar Ahmad Gujjar, Charagh Awan, and Hafiz Maqbul Waris, who have made it shine brightly. Hafiz Shahjahan Maqbul is a great poet of the Punjabi story "Heer Ranjha," who, before Waris, wrote the tale of Heer and gained significant fame. Hafiz Maqbul has a unique perspective on the characters in Punjabi stories. His characters are vibrant, living, breathing figures that take on real-life qualities. Hafiz Shahjahan Maqbul’s character portrayal is one of the finest in Punjabi storytelling, and it is difficult to find a similar one. Maqbul’s "Heer Ranjha" is a timeless narrative, and the characters in this story have given it eternal life.
