Abstract

By the 21st century ,the novel has taken many turns in many directions ,achieving many milestones in terms of theme ,style ,technique and characterization .I find the main subject of man’s inner conflict ,his identity ,the problems facing man and his situation in very clear words .In the present age ,every one is busy in their life .There is chaos and noise everywhere.Every human being is running for his share and his search for identity as he completes his cycle.In the 21st centure ,where new themes have been explored ,there is also a sense of being connected to one’s own tradition.While personal conflicts were highlighted ,political and social conditions and events were also mapped out . Human behavious, indifference towards moral values, materialism, ignorance prevelent in rural life, reflection conflict, sexual lust, illusion, political and economic issue, individual loneliness and description of that loneliness, the depiction of social trends: all thes themes are narrated with the modern innovation techniques. On the one hand man is connected to the whole world and the world is being transformed into a global village, on the other hand, he is suffering from loneliness and inner anguish and man is unable to understand his own essence. These bitter realities of society have been described in the novel of the 21st centure.
