The Active sports participation developing various positive qualities in students is essential for achieving success in all walks of life. The main objective of this study was to find out the reason of less partipcipation of BS students in sports . The study was contribute positively towards the enhancement of student’s participation in sports. The population for the study was consists of 1634 BS students of Government Collage Peshawar which currently enrolled in different department . A number of 320 students was selected as sample according to krejcie morgan table. The data was collected through self structure questionnaire.. A structured questionnaire of 5-point likert scale were distributed BS students of Government Collage Peshawar to gather quantitative data on their participation in sports.. The SPSS V25 Software for statistical analysis was used to examine quantitative data . The results of the study indicated that there were significant effects of barriers regarding lack of parental and social interest , neglecting sports activities in the college timetable, busy study schedule, acquiring high cGPA, mobile and computer based recreation activities, parental preference of academic achievements over physical activities. The students responses revealed that the primary hindrances to participating in sports are Computer based recreation activities 79% , Lack of parental and social interest 75% , Acquiring high cGPA 67%. It is recommended that the government should allocate proper fund for sports and increase sports budget in annual developmental program for government college Peshawar . Arrange sports seminars in different departments to educate students about the importance of sports and its benefits, encouraging them to participate actively in sports.
To find out the reasons for low participation of BS students in sports at Government College Peshawar and to propose strategies for enhancing sports participation.
Quantitative approach using a structured questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale distributed to 320 BS students sampled from a population of 1634 at Government College Peshawar. Data was analyzed using SPSS V25 software, employing the Crosstab statistical test.

The study highlights that a combination of personal, social, and institutional factors impedes sports participation. These include distractions from digital recreation, insufficient parental and social encouragement, academic pressures, and a lack of integration of sports into the college curriculum and timetable. The findings suggest a need for a multi-pronged approach involving government support, educational institution initiatives, and parental engagement.
The primary hindrances to sports participation among BS students are computer-based recreation activities (79%), lack of parental and social interest (75%), weak approach towards physical activities and parental preference for academic achievements over physical activities (73%), students' low interest (71%), neglecting sports in the college timetable (70%), lack of awareness (67%), acquiring high cGPA (67%), and busy study schedules (65%).
The main barriers to sports participation among BS students at Government College Peshawar are a lack of parental and social interest, the neglect of sports in the college timetable, busy study schedules, the pursuit of high cGPA, the prevalence of mobile and computer-based recreation, and parental preference for academic achievements. These barriers are attributed to insufficient government support, strict academic schedules, a weak general approach to physical activity, low student interest, and a lack of parental awareness.
