Abstract

Shaykh Abū' Abd al Rahmān Nāsir al Dīn Albānī was born in 1914 in a religious family in Ashqudara, capital of Albāniyah. His father, Al-Ḥāj, Shaykh Nūh ibn Najātī al Albānī, is known among the renowned Ḥanfi scholars. His father migrated and settled in Syria. At that time Shaykh Albānī was at the age of nine. By profession, he was a watchmaker and he learned this art from his father, and became skilled in this technique and the same was his source of income. He had a small shop close to Jām‘ia’Umwī. He regularly used to go to the nearest library, Maktabah al Ẓāhiriyyah. Sometimes he used to spend continuously twelve hours in the library. A room was allocated for his study in the Maktabah library. After some time, he searched the references of aḥādīth from Kitāb Al-Mughnī ‘an-Ḥamal Al-asfār fī al asfār fī takhrīj mā fī alIhyā, a book written by Ḥāfiz Zayn al Dīn al 'Irāqī. Albānī penned many books in the field of Ḥadīth and Ḥadīth science. He added Takhrījī footnotes on some books and he also wrote some books in Takhrīj. Some books of the Albānī are published, and many books are still in manuscript form. Some of the books compiled by his students have also been attributed to Albānī, Some translators have also mentioned them in Shaykh Albānī's books.
