Abstract

Multicultural classrooms demand high profile skills, expertise and potentials from teachers to cater the needs of all students. This study was conducted to explore enriched information about multicultural classrooms and expectations from teachers in multicultural classrooms of higher education level. Furthermore, study aimed at exploring current status of training programs to train teachers for multicultural classrooms. Meta-analysis, method that has been used in this study analyzes and aggregates the results of previously conducted independent studies in the area of multicultural classrooms. First of all area of interest was selected and objectives were formulated. Then articles related to that area were explored and after thorough review of all selected articles some of the articles were excluded from target list due to their diverse area. Themes were generated on the basis of objectives to extract relevant data from articles and results were organized in chronological order. Findings of this study revealed that quality of training programs may be improved for guiding teachers to get information about students’ background and to promote respect and appreciation for diverse religions, cultures and races in order to ensure effective teaching in multicultural classrooms.||Keywords: Multicultural, Classroom, Expectations, Teacher Training.
