This article of Allama Syed Sulaiman Nadvi (d. 1953 CE) is in fact the review he wrote on the Arabic work, Kashf al-Duja an-Wajh al-Riba of Maulana Zafar Ahmad Thanvi (d. 1974 CE). This book was written in response to Maulana Abdul Lateef Rahmani's treatise Al-Istafta, on the advice and under the supervision of Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi.
In this review article, Syed Sulaiman Nadvi has written that the interest-based loan is the same Riba that the Quran deems Haram (impermissible). The argument of its being Haram is the practice of the Salaf Saliheen (Islamic scholars of the earliest days). No one agues in favour of its being permissible. This Arabic article was published in the Shawwal 1351H. (February 1933 CE) issue of Majalla al-Zia, the organ of Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow. Here is its Urdu version.
